It is March 2024 and we are working hard to launch our website and our social media presence. If you are reading this blog it means we succeeded! To connect all our outputs, digital and otherwise, we needed a logo that captures the essence of the project's qualities and aims in one distinct and simple picture.
We first thought of an idea to launch a small logo competition as it is a common way of creating a logo for a project. However, the more we thought about it the more it did not seem the right way to go.
Why? Because to compete, by definition, is to strive to win by defeating or establishing superiority over others.
Nkwihoreze is about connecting, collaborating, and supporting each other. To truly reflect the project's core values we chose to work as a team.
Here we give you a preview of some of the initial ideas as well as the final logo. The final version (designed up by our talented young facilitator Leonard Nyiringabo) illustrates younger and older generations coming together to share, comfort and strengthen one another.
These drawings wonderfully represent the strengths of the project and its potential in reaching many young people and their families.
Nkwihoreze is a project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), part of UK Research and Innovation. It is a collaborative project between UCL, Uyisenga Ni Imanzi and AERG.
